Carnations in memory of fifty residents of the Marina Alta shot during the Civil War

November 05 from 2018 - 14: 19

First Sunday of November. Cemetery of Dénia. In the background, the wall on which 51 neighbors of the Marina Alta were shot during the Civil War. The same wall on which, eighty years later, you can see the bullet holes that ended with so many lives for free.

One more year, the PSPV-PSOE wanted to pay homage with a simple but emotional act to the neighbors of the region shot during the Civil War, and also afterwards. And he did it in the place where, even today, the energy of that injustice remains. An injustice with which Dénia is accountable.

During the ceremony, the Mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt; the Secretary of Historical Memory of the PSPV at national level, Matías Alonso; representatives of the Young Socialists; and people from the public who wanted to share their memories and experiences with the rest of the attendees.

The testimonies of the relatives of some of those shot, as well as the memory of all those victims, became protagonists of a sunny morning in which one of the darkest episodes of our recent history returned to the present to remind those who they lived, and those who did not live it, the cruel reality that the war left in the Marina Alta.
