Ciudadanos wants Dénia to be "the Venice of the Marina Alta"

January 26 from 2016 - 00: 01

The Citizens group in the City Council of Dénia is focusing its efforts on the port of Dénia. Last week they held a meeting with the General Director of Ports of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Domingo, to discuss with him the current situation of the Dianense port and transfer the proposals they are working on.

The councilor of the orange formation in Dénia, Sergio Benito, first asked for greater transparency in the management of the port, since it is very difficult to know its economic balance, as well as the budget or benefits. Even so, from Ciudadanos they estimate that the port of Dénia generates annual benefits that would be around 3,5 million euros, and from which the Dianense citizenship does not benefit.

According to Benito, if management changed port and a portion of those profits will go to improvements in the port area in a few years projects could be done «de enorme envergadura» Dianense that would benefit society and not depend on private investments, as has happened so far.

Citizens proposal goes through to the port of Denia «la Venecia de la Marina Alta»: A port in which space for the hotel, water sports and traffic of both private and passenger boats to the Balearic Islands has.

Citizens expect from the Directorate General of Ports accept their suggestions as they feel that «pensando en grande se revalorizará el puerto y se hará más competitivo». Benito insists that «tenemos que pulir la joya que tenemos, porque Dénia es mucho más que una Ciudad Creativa de la Gastronomía».

This week they hope to meet with the mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, to convey the result of the meeting with Carlos Domingo and hope that, on the other hand, there will be as good predisposition as there has been by the director general.

Two possible locations for the dog beach

At the meeting held with the Director General of Ports at the request of his deputy Mª Jose García, Ciudadanos Dénia put on the table his claim for a dog beach in the capital of the region. Councilwoman Mari Martínez said that, although they still cannot give more information, two locations are currently being considered for this space.

La diputada Mª José García afirmó que desde la dirección general «han tenido buena voluntad para habilitar una zona de disfrute para perros» and stressed that it might be possible to be enabled for the entire year.
