Center Unificat does not rule out integrating with other parties for municipal 2019

With just over five months to go before the municipal elections of 2019, the Gent coalition of Dénia-Center Unificat has announced its intention to attend the elections separately, although Center Unificat does not rule out coalitions with other parties with state representation.

This has been confirmed by its two leaders, Miguel Llobell and Pepa Font, during the Christmas lunch that they shared with the media. Pepa Font has stated that her intention, to this day, is not to run for mayor. Font considers that his group has people who want to continue, although he is aware that finding someone to be the head of the list "not so clear".

The centrist leader has acknowledged that work is being done internally to establish possible integrations with other parties for the elections next May. Font has assured that they are open to all parties except the PP, with whom they do not contemplate any type of dialogue. Nor does he rule out rejoining forces with Gent de Dénia, although it will be a decision that they would take later.

For his part, Miguel Llobell has claimed to be available to the party, although he has admitted that his intention is to give way to new faces and new ideas.

Balance of the legislature

Both councilors have claimed that they have worked "very comfortably" these four years of coalition in the opposition, although they are now aware that these coalitions do not add voters. They consider that they have made opposition but have also supported the government on specific issues.

Regarding the work of the government team, GDCU has lamented two particularly critical issues. On the one hand, the urgency with which they have worked, with more extraordinary than ordinary plenary sessions to discuss important issues in which they have not had time to study the points. In this sense, Pepa Font has stated that "I do not know if it is incapacity of management or that they do not know how to do otherwise.

The second critical point for GDCU has been urbanism, which they consider "the cornerstone of economic development". The councilors consider that the government team has worked "with more secrecy than they should" on this topic and have "turned its back on citizenship".
