This year's school sports leagues canceled due to the coronavirus

11 September 2020 - 14: 02

The Dénia City Council will not organize school sports leagues this year as a preventive measure in the face of the health situation. This decision has been agreed by the responsible councils, Sports, Health and Education.

As stated by the Councilor for Sports, Raúl García de la Reina, "Once the current situation and the strict protocols that are applied in schools to avoid contagions have been assessed, we have considered that the development of local school leagues (where primary school boys and girls participate) could compromise the effectiveness of the security measures that are followed in the centers ", by promoting extracurricular contacts among the students who are distributed in class in the so-called 'bubble groups'.

On the other hand, Dénia will not participate in regional competitions until January, when the situation will be reassessed to decide whether or not to resume school sports activity.

The councilor thanked "the understanding and collaboration of the educational community and the sports clubs of the city".
