Baleària will measure the temperature to all passengers before boarding as an extra security measure

May 11 from 2020 - 09: 32

Baleària will carry out the temperature measurements in all the ports where it operates through different tools; thermal imaging cameras, temperature totems or non-contact manual thermometers, depending on the port. The company reserves the right not to board a passenger with a fever.

On the other hand, from Monday some Baleària ships will have ozone disinfection machines, which the shipping company plans to gradually incorporate into the entire operating fleet to disinfect all spaces on the ships. Since the beginning of the health crisis, Baleària has reinforced its cleaning and disinfection protocols that are carried out continuously before, during and after journeys. Viricide, fungicide, bactericide and disinfectant products that are certified for disinfection of Covid-19 are widely applied. This additional cleaning plan includes all surfaces that can be touched by passengers (from railings to seats and armrests). In addition, the crews in contact with the passage work with a mask (which is also mandatory for passengers, who are provided with hydroalcoholic gel) and shipments and disembarkations have been reorganized to avoid crowds. It should be noted that Baleària has a COVID-19 monitoring commission and a specific communication channel and that the crew relays have been optimized to prevent contagions on board.

Baleària announced this week that it is working to be the first shipping company in the world to obtain the Global Safe Site Covid-19 label in its highest degree (Excellence) by the international certification and inspection entity Bureau Veritas. The shipping company plans to obtain this June certification for 16 of its ships and the two maritime stations it manages directly (Dénia and Valencia). Periodically Bureau Veritas will analyze the possible presence of Covid-19 through periodic inspections.
