Thirteen years after the opening of the first sheltered housing for women with mental disabilities, APROSDECO, the Association for Mentally Deficient Dénia and Region, opened the second sheltered housing, which will be allocated to six users from next March.

They are currently assessing the applications that have been submitted to the Department of Social Services City of Dénia to reside in this house in the street Moncada.

It has been precisely the City who has given the property, which has been restored thanks to the economic contributions of the ONCE, the Sports Foundation Dénia, the Marist school and donations from individuals, who have been able to finance a budget rehabilitation of 85.000 euros.

APROSDECO have been satisfied with the inauguration of this second home, while still claiming necessary infrastructures for the disabled groups of the region as the Day Center, which would give a break to the saturation currently suffering the Occupational Center of La Xara .

In this regard, the councilor for social welfare, Cristina Morera, who has attended in the company of the mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, has indicated that the administrative procedures continue to advance and trusts that the deadlines will allow the service to be launched in the month of September. Despite the fact that this center will be a relief for the situation currently being experienced in the Occupational Center, Morera recalled that the true infrastructure necessary in the region is the La Pedrera Socio-Sanitary Area, a project that will continue to be claimed in the autonomous institutions .
