40 years Aprosdeco celebrates a week of open doors

The Pro-Deficient Association Psychics Marina Alta (Aprosdeco), celebrating its 40 anniversary and does so with an intense week of open doors that started on Monday with a reception for guests and will continue until Friday receiving family and friends so they can visit the facilities and see first hand how to work selfadvocates center.

In the first open day, the president of the Association, Ana Mª Vadillo, welcomed the guests and explained that the aim of this week is to be released to a society that often we still an invisible group, while also he explained what has been achieved in these 40 years of partnership.

A projected video showed the different aspects of the association. On the one hand, the Occupational Center of La Xara, a center that serves 56 people from different municipalities of the Marina Alta and in which, throughout the day, activities and crafts are carried out and throughout the year they celebrate different festivals such as fallas or easter.

On the other hand Aprosdeco operates a Special Employment Center, an industrial laundry that was launched in 1990 and helps the integration of people with intellectual disabilities in the workplace.

There is also a sheltered housing for women since 2003 which has become a resource for their users acquire independent living and living habits with the support of educators.

And these important resources is necessary to add the Leisure Club, which thanks to the support of volunteers carry out activities, outings, workshops and even user conferences and family.

Aprosdeco survives thanks to government subsidies, aid arriving in cuantagotas and evening. It is a non profit organization that has the support of several local and regional entities puntalemente collaborate in some way the Foundation 100%, the Rotary Club Dénia and associations FEAPS Valencia, thanks to which users participate in the holiday program Feaps-Imserso.

Aprosdeco facilities can be visited until Friday morning 10 17 of hours.

Other projects

Aprosdeco is waiting for the Ministry to approve two new sheltered housing, one for boys and one second of respite, with up to three people and allow the families leave there users at peak times.

Both houses are waiting to be furnished, and once approved by the Ministry and the necessary money is received, would be launched. According to the president of the Association, the sheltered housing respite could move forward without the aid, but the boys would be much more complicated. Still, from Aprosdeco they expect both houses to become operational next year.
