Ana Kringe: "Increasingly, political parties rely on women to be heads list"

07 March 2013 - 00: 00

Dénia has governed for four years. At 38 years old - she turns 39 on Sunday - Ana Kringe is the youngest mayor the city has ever had. Despite being a laboratory technician, his life has been closely tied to politics for many years. Today we speak with her about women in politics and the recognition of Jessica Romero on Women's Day.

Your team is made up of many women. Do you work at ease reinforced by so many women?

Yeah right. Everything is necessary to have a team of men and women. Starting with councilors, fellow party ... we see things differently. I appreciate the work of all: Pepa Cardona captained the tourism department, the Maribel Font Culture, MªDolores Guntiñas the governance ... And so in many city departments. But the bottom line is the union there.

In recent years it has changed. There are important municipalities in which women hold the reins: Elche, Valencia ... the issue has changed considerably. Getting here is not an easy path, but I understand that is so difficult for a man and a woman. Times have changed and political parties have relied on women to be leaderboards.

¿Govern differently a mayor?

Those who have to evaluate that citizens are. Perhaps the woman carries the theme more like a housewife: if it gets so much money, can go ... try to save as much as possible. I imagine it's the same ...

You have preserved the departure of social welfare. Still with the same activities in equality?

Yes, with the same programs. Over the last few years initiatives have been launched such as the Centro Mujer de Dénia, which serves the Marina Alta, the Marina Baja and part of the Safor. An active policy on equality is being developed. In the area of equality we have chosen not to cut back, but to reinforce.

What led you to distinguish a person as Jessica Romero in the Women's Day?

When I met with Pepa Sivera, it was very easy. We were looking for a profile of a woman who, especially in the social part, was very overturned, and the name of Jessica immediately emerged because she is who she is: a brave, fighter woman… a word with which people who know her identify her. It is a recognition of the person and all the work that has been developing. It is a mirror in which many people can look.

Do you think that the celebration of this day is necessary?

I think so, regardless of the change in today's society. It does not hurt to remember the meaning of Women's Day. For the same reason from the department of equality all these activities are being developed. And above all the fact of recognizing a woman for the fourth consecutive year.

What woman is a reference for you?

My mother always say the same thing, because 14 years my father died of cancer, and at that time my mother had to take care of the house, the whole family, my father's company ... At that time I proved and still continues to do: have 71 years and not for. It is a very active person. We gave a lesson to everyone: even though it all happened so suddenly that changed our life completely, she was able to take the reins. For me it is an example of daily improvement.
