Advance the closing time of Marqués de Campo and expand the tunnel opening this summer

26 June 2015 - 12: 57

Next Monday, June 29, Calle Marqués de Campo will begin to be closed to traffic in the afternoons to become pedestrianized, but this time it will do so with longer hours.

The councilor of territory and works and services, MªJosep Ripoll, has announced that this summer the street will be pedestrian starting at 14 hours, one hour earlier than usual. This decision responds to a «cuestión de operatividad», As Ripoll explains, this way it will be easier for people not to park their cars for the afternoon.

Rafa Carrió, for his part, explained that from now on the tow truck will not begin removing vehicles parked on the street until 18:XNUMX p.m., thus giving drivers four hours to remove cars from Marqués de Campo.

Knowing that it is a very sensitive issue, the mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, will hold a meeting with street vendors next week to hear their opinion and proposals in this regard.

The new pedestrianization schedule of the main commercial artery of the city will be from 14 hours to 3 at dawn.

Objective: definitive pedestrianization of the street

Aunque se han mostrado muy cautos con este tema, los representantes del equipo de gobierno han explicado que el objetivo es que»en un futuro la calle Marqués de Campo sea peatonal».

In this regard, Rafa Carrió added that before that happens they have to carry out pertinent feasibility studies and meet with the affected parties to hear their opinion on the final closure of the road traffic.

Extension of the castle tunnel schedule

Ripoll has also announced that this summer will extend the opening hours of the castle tunnel that connects Ronda Murallas with the COnsell plaza. Starting July 1 will open from 6: 30 from morning to 2 from dawn.

This change was born at the proposal of the councilor for the interior, Javier Scotto, to facilitate access to the parking areas behind the castle.
