After more than 6 years teaching in prefabricated classrooms since 2008 decided to close the old school building of La Xara, its 150 students are closer to brand new facilities and leave the barracks.
The mayor of La Xara, Josep Fornés, and the Councilor for Education of Denia, Pepa Sivera, They presented the project to rehabilitate the old building, dated 1963, and expansion of the school to be forwarded this week to the Regional Directorate and the Ministry of Finance to approve funding.
As explained by the mayor of the EATIM, the project includes two actions: first the rehabilitation of the old building, where three classrooms Children, bathrooms and a multipurpose room on the ground floor will be enabled; and music rooms, computer and library with a small store on the top floor.
On the other hand, a new building will be created on the site now occupied by the basketball court six primary classrooms, four offices, the staff room and three bathrooms. Both buildings will be connected by two aisles and also conetarán with dining.
The total budget for both actions is EUR 633.000, 287.000 of which correspond to the plan of the Trust to be received by the entity. the rest will charge the Department of Education.
If the deadlines are as expected, rehabilitation and construction of the new building would be finished in 2015, and the students would move immediately after its completion as the top priority is to get students in prefabricated classrooms.
Josep Fornés explained they are working on a second phase to give the center a gym, which are already in discussions with the Provincial de Alicante.
