The Union of public employees denounces that the City Council refuses to provide information on the gender gap of the future RPT

01 June 2021 - 09: 32

The Union of public employees of the Valencian Community SEP-CV has reported that it has requested in various ways to be provided with data on the average remuneration of male and female workers, as established by royal decrees 901 and 902 of 2020 on equal pay between men. and women. However, according to the SEP-CV, "the government team intends for these data to be known when the list of jobs has been definitively approved."

The SEP was the first union to request this information in 2016 when it was not yet mandatory by law, and those data already served to detect a pay difference of 4% in favor of civil servants compared to civil servants. The union wants to know the data of the current job evaluation, to know if this gender pay gap has been reduced or is maintained.

In this sense, the Law is very clear and establishes that it is necessary “to obtain the necessary information to verify whether the remuneration system of the company, in a transversal and complete manner, complies with the effective application of the principle of equality between women and men in matters of remuneration. Likewise, it must make it possible to define the needs to avoid, correct and prevent existing obstacles and difficulties or that may arise in order to guarantee equal remuneration, and ensure transparency and monitoring of said remuneration system ”.

"I would not be surprised by this refusal to address this issue from a party that denies gender inequality, which there are, but it is surprising in a progressive party with an absolute majority or in 21st century workers' unions," the union declares.

«If the government team, finally, brings the RPT to the Negotiation Table and its subsequent approval by the plenary session without the required information, apart from the fact that the SEP will be forced to vote against, we will inform the Secretariat of State of Equality so that they can take the measures they consider appropriate.

Apart from hiding gender inequality, the SEP considers that the proposal also increases inequality between the highest and lowest salaries with a record gap of more than 68.000 euros between the best and lowest paid, "and does not take advantage of an investment of almost 3 million euros, which we consider legally and budgetarily unviable, to reclassify all municipal groups misclassified due to their titles and functions.
