The athlete, Laurence Rastell, of the Athletics Club Baleària Diànium comes from being the best in the female category of the "VI Spanish Snowshoe Championship 2018", celebrated in the Huesca town of Gistaín.
In the spectacular setting at the foot of the Fubillons mountain range, a place unknown to many but offering exceptional conditions for snowshoeing. Coinciding with the day of the racket player of Aragon, this championship was organized by the Spanish Federation of Mountain Sports and Climbing (FEDME) together with Club Atlético Sobrarbe (CAS).
On a route of 12 kilometers and 500 meters of positive height gain accumulated in a spectacular natural Pyrenean setting with snow in different conditions from very soft to very hard. The route ran through enclaves such as the Tozal de Iguerra, in the Sierra de Fubillóns, as a great viewpoint of the Cotiella and Lardana-Posets massifs, leaving from Cruz de Puyadase.
In the female category, Laurence Rastell, was the first to cross the finish line with a time of 1 hour and 30 minutes, but being of French nationality did not opt for the title of champion. The Aragonese Esther Sanz (1: 53: 37) who won the title of Champion of Spain. The Asturian Beatriz Montes spent just over two hours, a time that has served to hang the title of runner-up in Spain.
Despite not opting for the title of champion the athlete of the Dianense club that trains with Franc Beneyto was very satisfied with this result in a specialty that is very complicated when preparing it since in this area there is no snow.
