The businessmen bet on the train station in the vicinity of La Pedrera

08 June 2017 - 11: 56

The Business Circle of the Marina Alta (CEDMA) Held a meeting in the City of Denia with the government team and study managers "Estimation of potential passenger demand" Realized by the University of Alicante (UA) by order of the City council.

The editorial team, with its director, Armando Ortuño at the helm, analyzed the analysis according to which the Denia / Marina Alta station would have 500.000 users a year and that corroborates that the best site for the rail connection with Gandia-Valencia is a Intermodal station in La Plana de Dénia, near La Pedrera.

In this sense, the University of Alicante confirms this site already established by the study of the Ministry of Development, as the ideal to connect the rail service of Cercanías with the TRAM, buses and Tren de la Costa. In addition, the infrastructure would facilitate the flow into the port of Dénia of passengers bound for the Balearic Islands and would accommodate other public transports such as taxi.

For the Cercle this presentation of the study has been illuminating. Both the study carried out by the University of Alicante and the one carried out by the Ministry of Public Works, says that the first section of the line, which would link Gandia and Oliva, both Fomento and the UA, must be from Cercanías. However, the Ministry plans a regional connection or through the AVE between Oliva and Denia. The UA concludes that this approach is not the most appropriate since the region requires a line of Cercanías, which, according to the calculations of potential travelers, would be completely profitable.

After the meeting, the mayor of Denia, Vicent Grimalt, Explained that the next step to take with this study will be its presentation before the plenary of the municipal corporation. Once approved, the City Council will inform the Generalitat Valenciana to seek their support, and will request a meeting with the Ministry of Public Works to present it.

What about the AVE between Oliva and Denia has touched my heart… ..between it has already arrived, hahahaha, what environmental impact would the station in La Pedrera have? How much land and houses would have to be expropriated to carry out this project? Let's think for a bit that it's never wrong. With the debts that the City Council already has for this reason and they need more.
