70 monitored effective from next week the Natural Park Montgó

Scarce rains on the area in the past year considerably increase the risk of fire, and in this situation, Dénia has decided to bring forward the fire lookout in the Natural Park Montgó.

City Hall, Civil Protection and Agrupació Contra Incendis Forestals of Dénia (ACIF) begin with surveillance work next Monday 26 May and will last until late September, when weather conditions change.

Surveillance in the Natural Park will during 24 hours a day, seven days a week, rotating shifts and mobile patrols with troops 50 20 of Civil Protection and ACIF.

The Agrupació Contra Incendis Forestals de Dénia has a 'pick-up' with pumper and 4x4 vehicles with the capacity to transport up to a total of nine volunteers who will monitor the areas of Les Planes and Les Rotes. Civil Portection, meanwhile, mobilizes five vehicles: a Cuba truck, a 'pick-up', as well as three support vehicles, all equipped with fire-fighting equipment that will patrol in the Camí de Dénia to Jávea, Camí de Gandía, Las Marinas, Montgó, and the castle of Dénia where a fixed surveillance point will be located.

The Councilors for the Environment, Juan Carlos Signes, and Security, Javier Ygarza, have recalled that the Montgó is prohibited any type of fire (barbecues, paellas, etc.), smoking and throwing butts in the natural park; Dispose of garbage of any kind, as well as use artifacts loaded with gunpowder (firecrackers and masclets).

They have also encouraged people to call the emergency number 112 of Valencia before any evidence of smoke or fire.
