1.600 students begin the course in the center associated UNED Dénia

The Rector of the UNED, Alejandro Tiana, last Friday presided over the solemn opening ceremony of the academic year 2013-2014 in Dénia UNED Associated Center. This year is about 1.600 students who have enrolled in different specialties offered by the center.

During the event, which was also attended by the president of the Alicante Provincial Council, Luisa Pastor; the general director of universities of the Generalitat Valenciana, José Miguel Savall; and the mayor of Dénia, Ana Kringe, diplomas were delivered to the 71 students who have completed their studies at the center this year.

Two of them, Carmen Esmeralda Camarasa and Pascual Ibáñez, spoke on behalf of his colleagues to express the feelings of the various promotions studying in the center, «una gran familia»As they expressed.

The lecture was given by Professor Antoni Francesc Grau, under the title «Dénia y su pasado. Una historia con perspectiva de futuro», He analyzed the various crises that have passed the city throughout its long history. All he has recovered, rising from one way or another in more or less time. Grau used last Denia to reflect on the future that lies ahead in these years of economic crisis.

In relation to these difficult times, the director of the Dénia associated center, Raquel Martí, pointed out that «seremos capaces de salir si apostados por un futuro en el que el conocimiento, la investigación, el avance cultural, científico y educativo se conviertan en un horizonte irrenunciable y la Uned de Dénia es uno de los instrumentos esenciales para alcanzar este objetivo».

Last year, the associated center UNED Dénia offered the study of nine languages ​​through the CUID and has complemented this training with Spanish workshops for foreigners and two projects that have offered the possibility of living with native families in Dénia and Xàbia. Together with the Gavilà Ferrer Foundation, twelve courses were held with various themes and the offer of the traditional and consolidated summer courses reached fifteen courses. For its part, the UNED Senior, aimed at people over 55 years of age, has been consolidated at the Dénia and Xàbia headquarters with ten courses.
