What if the High Street was pedestrian?

August 23 from 2017 - 07: 37

In September of 2016 the works of rehabilitation of the house of the street began San Jose. The one that until some years ago housed the Home of Retired people of Dénia will become, at the end of 2018, in a new cultural space in the center of Dénia.

Since the construction began, and until the end, the street has closed to traffic both San Jose and the first stretch of Calle Mayor, leaving this central pedestrian in a certain pedestrian way until the works are finished. It will be a year of the beginning of works, and the street breathes tranquility and peace.

What would happen if you pedestrianized the Calle Mayor? The government team has already stated on several occasions that its intention is to design a city designed for people and not for vehicles. The pedestrianization of Calle Marques de Campo Is very present in its agenda, and the redevelopment project of Pare Pere, Plaza Valgamediós and Tenor Cortis will be a reality in a few years.

We know all these projects and ideas, but ... What about Calle Mayor? Perhaps it is time to think about its function, now that the house on Calle San José will become a cultural space.

The closest example is the Loreto street. In its day it was passable, and although its pedestrianization generated doubts and much controversy, now it is difficult to imagine it as it was before. Could Greater Street undergo a similar transformation?

Compared to its parallel street, Calle Mayor is full of houses at the foot of the street, so it seems difficult to be overcrowded with bars or restaurants. So would the neighbors gain quality of life if the street became pedestrian? Or, on the contrary, would this day-to-day harm this decision?

This is just a reflection. What is certain is that this road needs something more affection on the part of the City: sidewalks, pavement and electrical installations urge an improvement. However we are facing one of the oldest streets in the city, full of history and potential.

Greetings. That the C / Mayor needs repairs is indisputable. Pedestrianize it? Would it be good or bad for your neighbors? That is the issue: I think that it should be the residents of the street who decide what to do with it. After receiving complete information on the advantages and disadvantages of making a certain choice. In my humble opinion, putting C / Loreto as an example does not seem like the best thing for the neighbors. As far as I know, and I have heard from the media, there are a large number of residents of C / Loreto who are quite unhappy with the massive proliferation of leisure establishments. Is it because of something that has been declared an Acoustically Saturated Zone? At the request of the neighbors. And there have been numerous complaints of the inconvenience suffered by the neighbors. For me, the model of what we call "Pedestrian Streets" is actually "Commercial Streets." And the news almost seems like a "Globe Sonda" launched by those interested in marketing Dénia .. That the neighbors be informed, that public information be given to the entire population, and that only those who reside in C / Mayor decide and in the other areas. Sorry for the length of the letter. Health and Good Humor to all.

Would not be bad. He would consult the neighbors and with a large majority decide.

    And what about Ondara Street?
I would propose to pay a visit to the infected Ondara street so as not to come to live in Denia or leave as soon as possible of this third world city.
The neighbors of this street have the option of accessing their homes through this street infected, without lighting ... etc, or risk doing so crossing the Repsol gas station with the potential risk of accident in general and children and elderly in particular.
Only soulless people can let this situation not be resolved.
    Until when, Mr. Mayor?
