Ximo Puig announces that mass vaccination will begin in April

The President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, held this morning a coordination meeting for vaccination against Covid-19, which was held electronically, which was attended by the Vice President of the Consell and Minister of Equality and Inclusive Policies, Mónica Oltra, the Minister of Health Universal and Public Health, Ana Barceló, and senior officials and technicians from the Ministry of Health.

After the meeting, Ximo Puig has announced that the Generalitat will enable four spaces for mass vaccination, a process that is scheduled to begin in April, when the arrival of doses increases. There will be one center for each provincial capital, as well as another in Elche:

• In Valencia the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències
• In Alicante the City of Light
• In Castellón the Congress Palace
• In Elche the Alicante Fair Institution (IFA)

In addition, the president of the Generalitat has added that for the mass vaccination phase there will be the field hospitals of Valencia, Alicante and Castellón. At least one reference space per region will also be set up.

Free transport lines will be set up to travel to these centers.

These facilities will have three separate enclosures:
• A reception and triage area
• Other administration of vaccines
• A post-vaccination space in which people will stay for about 20 minutes.

Having facilities that are different from health centers (with exceptions such as sparsely populated areas) to immunize the population will make it easier for ordinary health services to continue to function normally.

As is already happening with the vaccination of the population over 90 years of age, as coverage is extended to more age groups, those responsible for the Department of Health will communicate via SMS or a phone call the place, day and time to receive the dose.
