Ximo Puig announces that the Valencian Community will receive two million doses of the Janssen vaccine between April and September

07 2021 April - 09: 34

The President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, has announced that the Valencian Community will receive two million doses of the Janssen vaccine between the months of April and September.

This has been stated after the meeting he has held with representatives of the pharmaceutical company Janssen, which was also attended by the Minister for Universal Health and Public Health, Ana Barceló.

The president has described the meeting as "very positive", as he explained "those responsible for the company have guaranteed us that almost two million Valencians will have received this vaccine before September".

Likewise, it has valued this announcement as it means "a substantial advance in the acceleration of vaccination", since as it is a single-dose vaccine, the amount of vaccines expected to receive will allow two million Valencians to be immunized, and this will mean that vaccination acquires a "very high rate", he assured.

The head of the Consell has also pointed out that the logistics and transport of the Janssen vaccine is "easier", which will also allow vaccinating people who, for any reason, have greater difficulty in moving around.

Apart from the aspects related to vaccination, the president has also agreed with the pharmaceutical company Janssen future collaboration commitments in aspects related to mental health or with analytical processes that are carried out in the Valencian Community, among others.

They have also agreed to work together to present projects to the calls for aid from European funds, linked to areas in which the pharmaceutical company is working, such as the fight against cancer or multiple sclerosis.
