According to Joana Gil, professor at the Hospital of Dénia, the educational attention is personalized for each student, according to their curricular level, physical, psychological and emotional characteristics. The classes are also adapted to the time of hospitalization. If it is of short stay, the work is oriented more to the reading, didactic games and activities lúdicas and plastic. On the contrary, if it is a long stay, curricular proposals are made to its center of origin.
Depending on the state of health and the mobility of the child, the educational attention can be made in the classroom or in the room itself, and always in coordination with the health staff, the family and the educational center of the patient. For Gil "This is essential, to know the causes of admission and the expected time of hospitalization. These are data that help prioritize and select the subjects to be learned by the student".
The objective of the Hospital Classroom is to normalize the stay of hospitalized children, in addition to favoring the relationship and communication with other children. It also helps to live the time of hospitalization as a positive and creative experience to conceive the disease as a process that does not have to be distressing.
The service is provided both for hospitalized children and those who go to the Day Hospital for some type of exploration. The lecture schedule is from Monday to Friday of 09: 00-13: 30.
