Dénia, one of the scenarios of the dismantling of a network of forgery of Valencian artists

After five months of investigation, the Heritage Group of the National Police Corps unit attached to the Generalitat has recovered a total of 30 fake artworks from different Valencian artists valued at 160.000 euros.

One of the locations where they have acted has been Denia, but they have also done so in cities like Valencia, Seville, Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Alicante, Toledo, Logroño, Onteniente and Elche. 6 has been arrested and 32 has been investigated for alleged crimes against intellectual property and strong theft in this operation, which began last January.

In the operation, the Patrimony Group of the Autonomous Police has collaborated with the Patrimony Group of the Madrid Unit, but also with the Higher Police Headquarters of València, Catalonia, Castilla-León and Andalusia.

The fake works corresponded to authors such as Mariano Benlliure, Ignacio Pinazo, Emilio Sala Francés, José Segrelles, Francisco Lozano, Genaro Lahuerta, Eusebio Sempere, Juan García Ripollés, José Royo and Eustaquio Segrelles. Also an original table of the sixteenth century attributed to Jean Rottenhammer and subtracted from the interior of an address has been intervened; A work by Wifredo Lam and an oil by Eduardo Rosales.
