The Department of Equality of the Dénia City Council, in collaboration with the associated center of the UNED, has scheduled a municipal day against human trafficking and sexual exploitation for next September 17.
Throughout a day, in the morning and afternoon, the attending people will be able to hear different authorities in the field that work in the fight against human trafficking from different areas: academic, police, political, associative, etc.
The session will open in the morning at 11 a.m., with a table dedicated to human trafficking, with the participation of Por-Anders Sunesson, Swedish Ambassador General for the fight against human trafficking since 2016, and M. Ángeles Espinosa , Professor of Developmental and Educational Psychology at the Autonomous University of Madrid and director of the IUNDIA (University Institute for the Needs and Rights of Children and Adolescents).
The afternoon table, starting at 18 pm, will focus on the issue of prostitution and sexual exploitation with Verónica Gómez, inspector of the National Police, head of UFAM Group 1 at the Alicante Provincial Police Station; Rosa Cobo, professor of Gender Sociology at the University of A Coruña: and Amelia Tiganus, survivor of a human trafficking network.
The conclusions of the day, at 20.30:XNUMX p.m., will be in charge of the City Council, which will present a motion of the Network of Municipalities Free of Trafficking in persons that the Plenary will vote in the next ordinary session.
The conference will take place in the assembly hall of the House of Culture. Capacity is limited, so prior registration is required at the email address equaltat@ayto-denia.es (closes on September 15). The event can also be followed online if so specified in the registration message.
Theater against sexual exploitation
As a complementary activity to this initiative, on September 26, at the Social Center, the play will be performed Segarem nettles with heels, by the Teatro del Contrahecho company, a reflection on women, machismo and prostitution.
The performance will take place at 20pm. Admission is free but you have to pick up the invitation, from 19pm to 21pm at the Social Center box office, on the 24th, 25th or 26th (two hours before the start of the show).
