UNED Dénia pursues the debate on climate change among its students

17 December 2019 - 13: 47

The CA UNED Dénia held on December 2 the participatory Workshop “What does the university change with change?” Where it participated together with other UNED centers nationwide.

The participating group of the UNED Dénia was moderated by Ángel Jesús Pérez Sánchez, Tutor Professor of Environmental Sciences of the Center. In line with its social and environmental commitment, and connecting with the objectives of COP25, CA UNED Dénia elaborated the measures provided by the assistants to later study to put them into practice and thus contribute to fight against climate change.

The COP (Conference of the Parties) was established as the supreme body of the Framework Convention on Climate Change (CMCC) established in 1992, at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, held in Rio de Janeiro. All member states participate in the COP. Since it was established in 1992, 24 Conferences have been held to analyze the situation and establish future commitments.

The objective of the UNED with this workshop is to generate spaces for conversation and debate where each member of the educational community can find a channel to make their voice heard, listen to that of others, as well as raise needs and propose individual and collective possibilities of action on climate change in the context of the UNED.

The workshop was free and blended with all participating centers connected online at the same time. The people attending the event at CA UNED Dénia highlighted as positive the fact that the workshop had left them with many questions, realizing the complexity of the situation and how necessary is the search for solutions and alternatives, if only for Take one more step forward.

For his part, Professor Ángel Jesús Pérez Sánchez stressed that “UNED has been brave to take a step forward by putting the associated centers with a view to addressing issues as important as climate change from a local perspective”.

On Monday, December 16, there was a presentation of the activities framed in # COP25UNED and the sharing of the first results.
