The next 5 in June is celebrated the World Environment Day, and to commemorate it, the department that directs Josep Crespo has prepared an intense program of activities that includes talks, bike and walking routes, a conference on the environment to be held in the castle, catamaran outings, a new release of turtles on the beach and a bird watching camp in Les Rotes.
The objective of this program is "raise awareness, educate and publicize the landscape and biodiversity that surround us", Explained the mayor in the presentation of the activities, which begin next Thursday 2 June and will last until Saturday June 11.
Turtle release
And among all the activities scheduled, two are particularly striking: on the one hand, a new release of turtles, to be held on Wednesday, June 8, at 10:30 a.m., on the beach of the Punta del Raset.
This time two copies of loggerhead turtle, common on our coast, and a copy of green turtle, harder to see in our waters are released. The activity will include the participation of almost all schools in Denia and is open to the public. Well before proceeding to the release of copies, specialists environmental department will talk about the danger of throwing waste into the sea for these and other species.
Bird watching camp
The second novel activity that is proposed from the Department of the Environment of Dénia will be developed from the 5 to the 11 in June next to the panel of the avifauna observatory that has been installed at the end of Les Rotes.
There a few days of observation day and night that will serve to monitor sightings in the area and collect data for the study of marine conservation, assisted by staff Ajuntament de Dénia be made, the Department of Environment, the University of Valencia, the NGO Xaloc and all those who want to participate as volunteers. Enhancement of the environmental routes
The activity program places special emphasis on the enhancement of environmental routes within our reach and that can be done on foot or by bicycle.
Thursday June 2
- Talk-projection of the new Dénia-Gandía bicycle route that runs through the greenway, the El Verger bike path; the Marjal Pego-Oliva and the Greenway that connects Oliva and Gandía
Friday June 3
- special route for students in the classrooms of the Third Age that runs along the river Alberca, the greenway and dunes of the El Raset
Saturday 4 June
- Bike path along the Greenway towards the Marjal Pego-Oliva with visit to the Font Salada
Dominican 5 June
- Walking tour, from the end of Les Rotes to the port of Xàbia, Passing through Les Planes. The return is done by boat.
Day of World Environment Day
The council, with the collaboration of the Dianense company Eysma Environment, has organized a conference on the environment to be held on Sunday June 5 in La Sala del Castillo de Dénia. The programming will start at 10 in the morning with a workshop in which the environment will be exposed as a background of inspiration.
In the 17.30 hours there will be a talk on the environment as a lifestyle, in which will participate as speakers Pedro Burruezo, chief editor of the magazine The Ecologist; Luis Poveda Sanchez, a professor at the University of Alicante and Ángel Pérez, a professor at the UNED.
Finally, the 19 hours, the Medievalia duo composed of musician and composer Pedro Burruezo violist and singer Maia Kanaan, will offer a concert that refers "to music and lyrics of the past but with a vocation for the future".
