An Algerian sand cloud settles over Dénia leaving a brown blanket on the surface

February 06 from 2021 - 13: 43

If you have left home this morning, you will have had the same surprise as the rest of the residents of Dénia: a dirt carpet covers the streets and vehicles. But, unlike what has been usual, this time it has not been caused by the rain of blood, since not a drop has fallen all night.

At this time you can still see a large amount of sand suspended in the air from the Algerian coast, not from the Sahara despite what is usually thought. Floating land is so large that it has settled on the surface without needing the usual push from raindrops.

The dust leaves an arid stamp on the area, but nothing comparable to the brown clouds at ground level in Tremecen, the Algerian province where this sand comes from. However, although dust persists floating as can be seen with the naked eye, episodes of rain are expected in the coming days that will help to recover the usual color of our landscape.
