November 30 from 2020 - 12: 36

The Alacant Civil Guard detains nine people as alleged perpetrators of a drug trafficking crime in Teulada. A restaurant and three houses have been searched in which the agents have located three large plantations.

The marijuana obtained, for which they would have obtained profits of up to 200.000 euros on the black market, was partly distributed to the United Kingdom, and partly, to other traffickers in the province of Alicante.

It was the testimony of a citizen that put the Civil Guard agents on alert. He explained that the restaurant, which had been in business for several years, was actually the cover of a gigantic marijuana crop, hidden on the ground floor.

Immediately, the Civil Guard of Alacant began the investigations to clarify the facts, in an arduous joint operation, called Mosra, which has been carried out between the San Vicente del Raspeig Investigation Area and the Judicial Police Team of Calp.

The owner of the restaurant, the main target of the investigation, also had a cocktail bar. He lived in a mansion near the restaurant and owned, in turn, several homes in the area. He led a high standard of living and owned various high-end passenger cars.

In an apartment located above the restaurant, lived an employee who, pretending to perform tasks related to the premises, was actually in charge of guarding the crops, for which he had the help of other employees. Another person, closely trusted by the leader, was in charge of supervising the work they were doing.

During the course of the investigation, other houses related to the gang were located, in which they had other illegal crops.

Periodically, other members of the group proceeded to harvest the marijuana that was being obtained. They transferred her at night in a van to one of the houses owned by the leader of the group. In this house, used as a warehouse, they had another plantation. Another large room was used for drying and packaging.

While the operation was taking place, the agents detected a significant increase in the group's activity, towards the middle of the current month of November, so, in coordination with the competent Dénia Court, they decided to accelerate the operation of the operation. Thus, on November 19, members of the Calp Judicial Police Team, San Vicente del Raspeig Research Area, Citizen Security Units (USECIC) of the Alacant Command and the Calp Company, Canine Detector Guide for drugs and money, and different patrols from the Calp and San Vicente del Raspeig Company Stations, proceeded to simultaneously enter the restaurant, and the rest of the houses, locating indoor marijuana plantations that were accessed by zulos practiced in the simulated floor and doors.

In the total of the four searches made, that of the restaurant and that of three houses, three large marijuana cultivation rooms were found in different phases of growth, which allowed the organization to provide continuous supply. The infrastructure was highly professional. They were equipped with computerized controls and a perfect finish and seal, which prevented the escape of odors and noise from the air conditioning compressors, which were fed by sophisticated illegal hookups to the electrical network.

In one of the searches, the agents discovered an underground tunnel of more than three meters in length, which passed under the roadway of the public road, through which the authors had passed one of the illegal electricity supply hooks to supply a of the plantations, specifically the one that was located on the ground floor of the restaurant.

During the entrance to the house that the leader occupied, he tried to escape by jumping out of a window. Among the belongings he was carrying at the time of trying to flee, the agents located 11.000 euros in cash. In the registry of that house, the Civil Guard found, in addition to the crop and the drying room, another 26.000 euros in bundles of hidden bills, as well as two shotguns, with abundant cartridges.

This extreme highlights the dangerousness of this type of organization, which uses firearms more and more frequently to protect its illegal activity.

One of the registered homes, owned by the leader, was a luxury mansion valued at more than four million euros. This house was used to launder the money obtained with the illegal activity of the gang.

In the four records made, all in the town of Teulada, 1.600 marijuana plants and 5 kilograms of dried buds have been intervened; 41.000 euros; 2 shotguns with abundant cartridges; six vehicles; and various mobile and computing devices used by the authors to carry out their activity.

With the sale of the marijuana intervened, the alleged perpetrators would have obtained a profit of 200.00 euros in the illicit market. Part of the harvest was sent to the UK. Likewise, it was sold to other traffickers in the Levantine area, for their illegal trade in Spain.

The fraud of electrical fluid carried out by the band during its period of activity has caused the electricity company losses of more than 60.000 euros.

Nine men between 23 and 49 years old have been arrested: five of British nationality, two of Argentine nationality, one of Colombian nationality, and another of Moroccan nationality. They are charged with the crimes of drug trafficking, belonging to a criminal organization, money laundering, fraud of electricity and illegal possession of weapons.

After being made available to the Dénia Investigating Court, three of them have entered prison. The rest have been released with charges.
