Lime and sand for Dénia Básquet in the weekend matches

February 07 from 2022 - 09: 50

El Denia Basketball Senior Men 1st National could not take, in the last moments of the match, the victory in his trip to the always complicated court of Moixent, falling in extra time by a difference of four points (70-66).

From the start, the home team made it clear with their intense defense that they were not going to make it easy for their rival to score points. Bernardo Sanz's men understood that they had to work behind with the same intensity as the only option to stay in the game.

The excellent work on the rebound prevented the locals from being able to distance themselves, although most of the time they took the initiative on the scoreboard. The team showed solidity and knew how to wait for its moment to come.

This was already presented within the last period when the excellent defensive tone added the success in the decisive moments, opening a seven-point advantage when there was only a minute and a half left to play, which seemed to be enough for the Dianenses to take the win .

However, the locals forced Denia Basketball three turnovers, some of them bordering on free kicks, managing to tie the match again. A last release released by Dénia did not enter and the game went into extra time.

Without a doubt, this was a hard blow that the Dianenses suffered in that extra time in which, despite being able to fight until the last moment, they arrived with the right forces, lacking some success to take the victory.

The team will face two games next week at Joan Fuster. On Saturday at 19:15 p.m. they will host ADESAVI on matchday 16 of the competition, while on Sunday they will recover at 17:00 p.m. against ENGUERA the first of their postponed matches, in this case, the one corresponding to matchday 11 that should have be played on January 8.

Senior Male Preferred

The Preferential Senior Men's team gave a new example of its recovery and achieved its second consecutive victory by defeating the always combative CB Anna (59-55) in Denia. As expected, the visitors made things very difficult for Carlos Vila's men from the beginning, who had to make a great effort to adapt to the pace and physical level that they demanded of us in order to compete with them.

Managing to defeat them meant, in addition to the sum of some essential points to continue climbing in the classification, an added value in the form of reinforcement of the confidence of a group that has known how to evolve to make up for the many injuries or illnesses suffered, which have modified the profile of the team and has forced him to reinvent himself.

The Dianenses kept the initiative on the scoreboard during the first quarter, but during the second and third, the visitors became owners of the pace of the match, managing to reach the last and final period with a minimal advantage favorable to their interests.

A favorable partial of +7 at the start of those last ten minutes gave the Dénia team a good dose of confidence that, despite the rival's response, tying the contest again, we knew how to stretch until the final whistle, relying on all in a great defensive effort by the entire team.

Junior Female Preferred

Defeat of the Preferred Junior Women's team in Joan Fuster against UBF Torrent (53-64). The Torrent showed why it is the leader of group B in the category.

The game remained even in a beautiful and competitive first half. Only in the last moments were the Valencians able to stretch the scoreboard going into the break with a seven-point lead. In the third quarter, their strong defense managed to block us in attack and with a run of 11-24 they broke the game.

Already in the last period they were proud and managed to overcome them by closing the gap, but without really worrying them.

Match from which the Denia Basketball players draw the best conclusion that they must be able to defend with greater determination to approach the level of the leading teams in this category.

Junior Male Preferred

The Preferential Junior Men's team was defeated in Mislata (62-36), on a day of little offensive success in which only the defense kept them in the game, offering throughout the game two excellent opportunities to get closer to the rival, who did not they were later able to consolidate.

The first period was very uphill allowing the locals to escape on the scoreboard. They lost too many balls forced by their pressure, and it cost them a lot to score points.

Afterwards, the match leveled out thanks to the great effort made by the group on the rebound, making Rubén Velázquez's men contain their rival and go from less to more, gaining in sensations, especially in the last period.

Despite the defeat, the team is aware that it is at the key moment of the season and that the next commitments will be essential to achieve the proposed goal of permanence.
