A supermarket chain promotes the consumption of proximity products of the Marina Alta

Within the project Agricultural Xarxa, developed by CREAMA commissioned by the Regional Agreement for the Economic Development of the Marina Alta, the Consortium for the Economic Recovery and Activity of the Marina Alta (CREAMA) and Supermarkets More and more They have signed a collaboration agreement to promote the consumption of the products of this region of Alicante and revitalize the agri-food production of the area.

The project aims to connect the different agents of the region's agri-food sector to establish synergies between them and facilitate the transaction of proximity products. Based on this objective, some commercial exchanges between producers and the supermarket chain have been taking place for several months.

The agreement contemplates both the consolidation of these already established exchanges and the incorporation of new agents to increase commercial agreements that include Marina Alta products in the MasyMas network of stores, all through the intermediation of the Agricultural Xarxa.

Both the general director of the supermarket chain, José Juan Fornés, and the president of CREAMA, Sebastián Cañadas, have shown their satisfaction after signing. For Fornés, a native of Pedreguer, the agreement is another step in the historical commitment of his company to the economic development of the region: “As a company rooted in the Marina Alta, we feel the responsibility of doing everything in our power to ensure the best growth in our region, in addition to promoting the consumption of local products is also a way to promote responsible consumption and environmental sustainability ”.

For its part, Cañadas has highlighted the multiple benefits derived from this agreement: “Shortening distances between the producer and the final consumer not only revives the agricultural sector of the Marina Alta. It also encourages the development of inland villages, the rural landscape is recovered and consolidated, and even favors the agricultural sector as a basis for the implementation of sustainable and alternative tourism.

Supermercados MasyMas is the teaching of the distributor Juan Fornés Fornés, SA with headquarters in Pedreguer and a network of 130 stores distributed by the Valencian Community and Murcia, is the third Valencian supermarket chain.

CREAMA is a public entity that energizes the economic and social activity of the Marina Alta. It brings together eight municipalities of the region, to the Diputación de Alicante and LABORA in order to develop initiatives that promote local development through different programs, including that of the 'Xarxa Agrícola'.
