A showcase called Dénia: businesses will have permission to use public roads as a tourist attraction

17 June 2020 - 19: 40

The City Council of Dénia has been working for weeks on urgent measures that favor the reactivation of the city's commercial fabric and help mitigate the effects produced by the health crisis of COVID-19. At the beginning of June, the Governing Board awarded the drafting work for the Dénia Strategic Trade Plan, a project that, predictably, will be released at the beginning of next year.

At the same time, a municipal ordinance regulating the occupation of public roads for commercial establishments is being worked on, which is currently in the initial process of public consultation. Until this new municipal regulation is approved, and at the request of the merchants associations of the city ACADE and ACE, the municipal government is going to allow, provisionally, until next September 30, that merchants can locate on the facades of their establishments supports in which to exhibit their products as a commercial claim for the public.

The elements that are installed must meet criteria of image and aesthetics of facades and comply with regulations that guarantee the safety of passers-by, consumers and users. The use of this means of promoting the product excludes sales abroad, which is not allowed. The exhibition items must be removed when the establishment's opening hours end.

The city council, in any case, reserves the right not to allow the placement of these elements in certain areas or public roads for reasons of security, image of the city or prevalence of the general interest.

In addition to these gender displays, commercial establishments may install flower pots, planters or any other ornamental element at the entrance of shops, trying to maintain uniformity in the use of these decorations on the same street or area.

All these points, which will be included in the decree that the city council will approve next week, have been exposed today in a telematic meeting attended by the mayor, Vicent Grimalt, the president of ACE, Antonio Llopis, that of ACADE, Jaime Mezquida, the councilor of Commerce, Sandra Gertrudix, the councilor of the Interior, Javier Scotto, the Councilor for Economic Services, Paco Roselló, and technical personnel from the commerce area.

At the meeting, the representatives of the sector were also informed that the city council has started conversations with the La Vía and Moll Vell private car parks to manage discounts in the car park for customers who make purchases in Dénia shops.
