The Civil Guard has arrested in Dénia a man, Spanish 38 years, as alleged perpetrator of a crime of drug trafficking. This person intended to embark, on the ferry to Formentera, the amount of 2,6 kilos of cocaine and 360 grams of MDMA hidden in his vehicle. After his transfer to court, he has been imprisoned.
Once again, the control exercised by the Civil Guard of Alicante over the passengers that embark in Dénia bound for the Balearic Islands has paid off, and has prevented the transport of drugs by an individual to the islands.
Last Monday afternoon, in the device deployed in the port of Dénia, formed by agents of the Citizen Security Unit (USECIA) of the Civil Guard Company of Calpe and the Fiscal Area of Jávea, they identified the driver of a tourist who was about to embark on the ferry to the island of Formentera.
In the registration of the vehicle, the agents detected that both the plastics that covered the lower part of the dashboard and the part corresponding to the passenger airbag were moving easily. When disassembling them, they found four medium sized packages wrapped in plastic.
Three of the packages, which shed a total weight of 2,645 kilos, were positive in cocaine, after the completion of the narcotest, while the fourth, of weight 362 grams, tested positive for methamphetamine (MDMA).
The passenger, a Spaniard of natural 38 years of Valencia, was arrested by the Civil Guard at that time as alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health for drug trafficking. After going to the court order of the Court of Instruction No. 2 of Dénia, he has been imprisoned. The drug would have reached a market price of 14.700 euros, in the case of MDMA, and 90.400 in the case of cocaine.
With this arrest, there are already four people detained by the Civil Guard related to this type of crime (three have been imprisoned), within a month, within the port of Dénia, the most significant being the seizure of 15,5 kilos of methamphetamine at the beginning of July.
