Dénia will become, once again, the epicenter and stage of university education and the most intense knowledge. Between the 25 of June and the 27 of July, the Associated Center of the UNED celebrates the 29º edition of its Summer Courses.
For this year a dozen courses have been scheduled to be held at the Dénia headquarters, but also at the Xàbia and Benidorm, and in the penitentiary centers of Picassent and Villena.
The director of the UNED, Raquel Martí, explained that the UNED addresses, in this edition, the social concerns existing in the day to day through a varied theme of this year's courses, aimed at all types of public and accredited by the UNED.
The Summer Courses of the UNED, Marti recalled, aim to become a forum of knowledge and accommodate different currents of opinion, thus bringing the university to the city. One more year, the UNED will become a space for debate, discussion and dialogue between students and teachers.
Immigration and Immigration (From 25 to 27 in June)
The first course will be held at the Penitentiary Center of Picassent between the 25 and the 27 in June. This course addresses the phenomenon of migration in its various facets, and studies the treatment of the rights of immigrants, the study of migration policies within the EU, and a multicultural vision of the phenomenon.
Education in values and emotions for coexistence and citizenship (From 25 to 27 in June)
Villena Penitentiary Center will host, between the 25 and the 27 of June, this course, a course that opens concise expectations before the uncertainties that arise in the challenges of the education in values and its correspondence with the conformation of the citizenship in the current societies. It means, therefore, approaching diversity in education in values and emotions for the formation of identity, intercultural coexistence, and the sense of the social from a multidisciplinary perspective (pedagogical, psychological, sociological and political).
In the same way strategies and techniques are addressed for their proper integration in the individual, family and community personality, through the development, application and resolution of conflicts in the awareness of gender equality, the enrichment of the concept of citizenship, artistic practices for self-knowledge and liberation and, finally, the implementation of emotional education in families.
Social theater and Education. Theatrical tools for empowerment and social transformation (From 16 to 18 in July)
From the 16 to the 18 of July, in the Xàbia Classroom, an introduction to basic theatrical techniques and tools based on the popular education of Paulo Freire, the theater of the oppressed of Augusto Boal and the systemic theater will be offered.
These tools are oriented to socio-educational work with diverse groups and collectives, inside and outside the school, focusing on community development, conflict resolution and emotional intelligence. The learning of the different techniques and methodologies will be carried out in different personal and group work spaces, which will allow to extrapolate the personal experience to our practical work in the facilitation of groups.
Smart Cities, a management perspective for cities in the 21st century (From 18 to 20 in July)
The Aula de Benidorm will hold, from 18 to 20 in July, this course that seeks a new concept of citizen development and effective sustainability with new management models that respond to the demands of 21st century citizens.
Current processes of social transformation (From 23 to 25 for July)
The week of the 23 of July the courses will be centralized in the Dénia headquarters. From the 23 to the 25 the course on current processes of social transformation will be held, which analyzes the processes of transformation of Spanish society, related to technological change and its social consequences, especially in the fields of work and daily life.
Special emphasis is placed on the groups most vulnerable to this transformation, considering the negative consequences for society. From the debate among the attendees, it is intended to point out lines of action that inspire public policies.
Women writers. Between disdain and forgetfulness (From 23 to 25 for July)
In its commitment to equality, UNED de Dénia again proposes a course on women. On this occasion, from the 23 to the 25 in July, some of the female voices silenced over the years in the world of literature will be studied, as well as the reasons that explain the silence they have seen and are surrounded by.
Local administration contracts and administrative contracts (From 23 to 25 for July)
Again this year, together with the City Council of Dénia, the UNED will address aspects of local administration. In this case, the 23 to 25 in July will delve into the new Public Sector Contracts Law, with special reference to Local Administration and with the perspective of 5 months of its application and the difficulties in its practical application.
The art and construction of the identity (s) (From 23 to 25 for July)
To be celebrated between the 25 and the 27 of July, this course proposes the study of this phenomenon in four aspects: 1. The use of painting and architecture to define identity in contexts of religious conflicts 2. The creation of identity in private spaces. 3 The conformation of social identity using the city as a means of cohesion. 4 Art linked to gender identity.
Emotional management in the classroom and prevention of bullying in Early Childhood and Primary Education through the Thinking emotions with full attention program (From 23 to 25 in July)
This course aims to provide theoretical and practical training to education and health professionals to promote emotional and social skills in children from 2 to 11 years within the school context. The course presents an update on the development of these skills, the way to address them in the classroom and its close relationship with the prevention of bullying.
Participants will know and learn to implement the program Thinking Emotions with Mindfulness. In addition, in relation to bullying, different strategies for detection and prevention in the classroom will be presented.
It will be held in Dénia from the 25 to the 27 in July.
Uncertainty and climate change. Challenges for a UNESCO cultural heritage city (From 23 to 25 for July)
The 29 Summer Courses of the UNED Dénia finalize with this course, which will be taught between the 25 and the 27 of July. Having as a backbone climate change, the course is constituted as a space for open reflection on what the society of uncertainty means. To do this, it takes different perspectives: social movements, media, professions or expert systems and science.
Registration and validation for credits
Registration for all courses is now open through the website of the UNED of Dénia, where the prices of each course are specified and the offers available for students who sign up this year.
Also, the coordinator Jaume Tortosa recalled that the courses can be validated by ECTS credits for students and MECD for teachers.
The presentation of the courses was presided over by the assistant vice-rector of university extension and summer courses of the UNED, Acracia Núñez, which has reaffirmed the proposal of the Dianense center as one of the national educational references.
The councilors of Dénia have also participated Paco Roselló y Rafa Carrió; and the councilor of education of the Town Council of Xàbia, Montse Villaverde.
