Almost two years after his death, Dénia will host the I International Congress L'Univers de Rafael Chirbes. Between the 9 and the 12 of May, a dozen speakers and 40 communicators will analyze the biographical aspects of the disappeared writer, as well as his narrative and essay work through different facets that Chirbes himself developed.
The first day, the 9 of May, the congress will take place at the facilities of the University of Valencia. The rest of the days, the presentations will take place in Dénia, both in the Paraula house as in the Social Center.
But International Congress L'Univers by Rafael Chribes will go further, and will offer complementary activities throughout the weekend to know in depth the figure of the writer. Thus, the Friday May 11, at the 20: 00 hours, a work that fables the territory of the interior trips of Rafael Chirbes -always inhabiting shelters- with the instrumental of the pictorial work of an intense artist, Carmen Calvo.
A montage designed by Toni Tordera, Alfons Cervera and Juanjo Prats that pays tribute and explores the less visible aspects of one of the best narrators of recent times, Rafael Chirbes. Traveling through the physical territories of the novelist, La Valldigna, Fez, Valverde de Burguillos, Dénia, Serra Segària ..., this proposal aims to reach their less visited territories, their internal trips. The final result is That man has a world in his head.
The piece is built with texts by Rafael Chirbes, Alfons Cervera and Juanjo Prats, who is also one of the interpreters of the work together with Enric Judzas. The relationship of the characters with the plastic pieces of Carmen Calvo will guide the viewer on this trip that will serve to know the invisible worlds of Chirbes, but at the same time the ones that we all hide from ourselves.
The activities will continue on Saturday, 12 in May, with the concert of the group Vibrart in the Social Center at 19: 30 hours. Miguel Colom, violin; Fernando Arias, violoncello; and Juan Pérez Floristan, piano, will perform works by Antonín Dvorak and Dimitri Schostakovick. Tickets can be purchased by 15 euros at the box office of the auditorium from one hour before the show.
