The Dénia Coast Guard Service surprised, mid-morning on Wednesday, two people who apparently were carrying out illegal fishing in the waters of the Cap de Sant Antoni Marine Reserve. After being identified and once the pertinent inspection had been carried out, it was confirmed that they were carrying underwater fishing equipment and even catches (two seabass, one bream and two seabreams).
Minutes were drawn up to initiate the disciplinary proceedings and the rifles and diving equipment were confiscated. The captures were also confiscated and delivered, for their use, to the soup kitchen of the Evangelist Church of Dénia.
The Cap de Sant Antoni Marine Reserve is currently in a good state of conservation and is a refuge for biodiversity. In recent years it has been achieved that neighbors, divers, professional fishermen and sailors are involved in their protection through their active collaboration with the Dénia Coast Guard Service also in the complaint and the fight against poaching.
Well done, Coast Guard !! Tough on illegal hunters.
