With the aim of promoting the global and breast health of women in the Marina Alta is born Smile, you are wonderful. It is a project created by Begoña Patiño, a surgeon specializing in breast pathology, at the Department of Health of Dénia and Raquel Ordúñez, a diagnostic radiology specialist at the breast cancer prevention unit at the Public Health Center Denia.
Through Smile, you are wonderful, it is intended to transmit in a more direct and participative way the importance of self-exploration and mammography at the indicated ages, as well as to promote healthy lifestyles through informative, participative talks and breast self-exploration workshops.
According to Dr. Patiño: "It is about informing about breast cancer prevention measures. It is important to abandon harmful habits and opt for a healthy lifestyle, perform a proper breast self-examination once a month and see a doctor for mammograms".
Smile, you are wonderful was awarded last week at the awards 100x100 Foundation, obtaining the first prize in the social section. The prize is endowed with 2.000 € that will be invested in the acquisition and manufacture of specialized models of Breast Self-Exploration. As well as the design and printing of a free manual with the most important points to remember, answer to frequent doubts and truthful and professional information about mom's cancer and how to prevent it.
