Health begins this week vaccination against COVID-19 in people over 80 years of age and large dependents

February 22 from 2021 - 15: 06

The Conselleria de Sanidad Universal y Salud Pública, within the framework of the vaccination plan against COVID-19, begins this week the vaccination of the group of people aged 80 years and over, as well as large non-institutionalized dependents (people in need intensive support measures and living at home).

To this end, approximately 42.000 doses of Pfizer's vaccine are calculated for the vaccination of people over 80 years of age and highly dependent. On the other hand, about 15.600 AstraZeneca vaccines will be used for the vaccination of the group of large dependents, who are between 18 and 55 years of age, except for the exceptions indicated in the strategy.

In this sense, Public Health has already sent instructions to all health departments with the procedure to follow in the vaccination of these two population groups, and the lists of patients.

On the other hand, during this week from February 22 to 28, the second dose of vaccines will be placed in residences to those people who were vaccinated with the first dose in the week of February 1 to 7.

In addition, in these same centers those who could not be vaccinated in the previous phases will be vaccinated with the first dose, either because they suffered from an active infection or because they are new admissions in the elderly center.

Finally, this week the health workers of the Valencian Health System who received the first dose during the week of February 1 to 7 will receive the second dose of the vaccine, as well as the first dose to the health workers who could not be vaccinated.
