Active health alert for high temperatures in Denia and other municipalities of the Marina Alta

The Ministry of Universal Health and Public Health, according to the predictions of the Center for Environmental Studies of the Mediterranean (CEAM), has activated the high or orange level for this Thursday (temperatures that could exceed 39º) in some areas of the La Foya regions de Bunyol, La Canal de Navarrés, La Ribera Alta, L'Horta Sud, La Costera, Vall d'Albaida, El Comtat, La Safor and La Marina Alta. Specifically, it has been activated in the municipalities of Dénia, El Verger, Els Poblets and Xàbia.

The forecast for Friday is to keep temperatures in these areas. As a result of this increase in temperatures, measures have been activated to transmit recommendations to prevent the effects of heat on health, in the most vulnerable groups, especially older people, the chronically ill, socially isolated people, people Who work in environments exposed to heat and children.

Advice to a heatwave

From the Department of Universal Health and Public Health is recommended to take special care with the sun between 12 hours and 16 hours, as well as the frequent use of appropriate protective creams.

On the other hand, it is recommended to avoid going out on the street in the hottest hours of the day and not to do intense physical exercise, as well as to use loose, light and light-colored clothing and protect your head with a hat or cap.

At home, it is advisable to close the blinds and lower the awnings on the facades exposed to the sun, try to be in the cooler areas of the house.

Finally, the population is urged to drink plenty of water and often, even if they do not thirst; avoid excess alcohol, drinks with lots of caffeine and copious hot meals, and opt for cold dishes, fresh fruits and vegetables.
