Reach the summit of It montgó by Jesús Pobre is the longest of the three existing routes: both the one that goes along the Camí de la Colònia and the one that starts from the Dénia Shooting Range have the shortest duration. However, this route that we explain now save the slope more slowly.
Next you have an index with all the points that we are going to deal with.
Route and track data
The tour begins on the way Media, in Jesús Pobre (Minor Local Entity within the municipality of Dénia). This itinerary starts from the CV-735, the Dénia highway-Xàbia: there begins a paved path that passes next to a fire-fighting water tank. In about 500 meters it becomes a heavily eroded forest track where the slope begins to increase. From here the route enters a narrow mountain path.
Following the path, we find the Iberian wall from the XNUMXnd century BC, which protected the town of La Penya de L'Àguila. When we leave these archaeological remains behind, we find the intersection with the orange route: the one that joins the Camí de la Colònia with the top, and which is more difficult but shorter.
We continue the path along the entire Montgó hill, and we arrive at the geodesic vertex that indicates the top, at 753 meters above sea level, from where we will have fabulous views of the entire coast of Dénia and we will even get to see the Balearics. The entire route is outlined in light green in the following image of the Cartographic viewer of l'Institut Cartogràfic Valencià.
A distance of 6270 meters is saved, a little more than 6 kilometers.
The estimated duration is 3 hours 45 minutes.
This route is considered to be high difficulty.
The cumulative elevation gain is 746 meters. A maximum height of 750 meters is reached and the minimum is 126 meters.
What to see
Before we start to climb the narrowest path, when we are about 350 meters above sea level, the views of Jesús Pobre and everything that Montgó gathers to the south are beautiful.
When we are getting close enough to the summit, we will find the detour towards Creueta de Dénia. To get there, you have to leave the main path and climb between rocks to the promontory where the cross is.
