Next Saturday the Travesía a Nado de Sant Roc 2012, within the festival program of Moors and Christians in honor of Sant Roc. The event will be organized by the Mayorales de Sant Roc, in collaboration with the Dénia Swimming Club and the Dénia Yacht Club.
As stated by Vicente Caravaca, Mayoral de Sant Roc, this competition started as something popular in the Port of Dénia and with a participation of 50 and 70 swimmers. For a couple of years it was intended to professionalize the journey by relying on a group of more competitive swimmers. Therefore, explains the Mayoral, it was preferred to put the start and end of the races on the beach of l'Estanyó. This allows greater distances and a better condition for the swimmers given the little cleanliness of the port water. As against, the beach prevents that, if a bad day comes, the tests can be performed normally.
In this edition, as a novelty, the test will be part of 5.000 meters Open Water Circuit of Valencia, with the referees and judges of the Valencian Federation of Swimming. Moreover, it is noteworthy that 430 swimmers, some come from the Canary Islands, Catalonia and Madrid enlisted.
The day will begin at 8: 00h with the collection of numbers. In the 9: 00h output test will take place 1.500 meters and ten minutes later that of 5.000 meters. Arrivals the 11: 15 200h of meters: 11h output test 30 500 meters and will be done. The latter two forms shall be addressed to children, juveniles and benjamines; and are free registration. Tests adults have a registration fee of € 10 and 13 for Federated € for independent swimmers.
