25 2014 April - 18: 24

Rafael Rodríguez, general director of the Merchant Navy, along with the General Director of Ports of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Eleno, the president of the Spanish Federation of Ports Associations, Gabriel Sandoval, the director of Marina de Denia and president of the Association of Marinas of Valencia, Gabriel Martínez and Asmar director, Víctor Moreno, have closed this morning the fifteenth edition of the Symposium held in Dénia Marinas.

During the closing ceremony, Rafael Rodríguez stressed that the recreational nautical sector "is being an engine for economic recovery and has become a niche market to generate quality employment." The general director of the Merchant Marine has explained that it is a sector with high consumption and "we must take advantage of this to attract quality tourism to our ports".

The General Directorate of the Merchant Marine is working to achieve the creation of a general subdirectory of Marina Deportiva. This is an aspiration to which the sector aspires for years "since it will be the way in which our problems can reach that great house that is Merchant Marine. This will begin to legislate according to the needs of recreational boating and of its new horizon, directly linked to nautical tourism, "said Gabriel Martínez.

For his part, Carlos Eleno, General Director of Ports of the Generalitat Valenciana, congratulated the organization for the quality of the presentations and said "that thanks to these meetings we know first hand the needs and problems and we can provide solutions".

Tribute to José Eraso

The Spanish Federation of Sports Harbor Associations paid homage last night, at the Marriott La Sella Hotel, to José Eraso, former president of the Spanish Association of Ports and Sports, who died in July of 2012. The sea marked his life and during 25 years he was captain of Puerto Portals. On board the Xargo III, he won the Limington-Bayona and several times the Spanish championship. With the Xargo IV built by him, he sailed from Lake Michigan to his native Vigo, crowning one of the five times he sailed across the Atlantic.
