Free fast charging points in Dénia: Baleària and Iberdrola's commitment to the use of electric vehicles

August 01 from 2019 - 09: 28

Iberdrola and Baleària join in the commitment to work together to promote sustainable mobility, as a way to fight against climate change, with the signing of an agreement for the installation of two points of rapid recharging of electric vehicles, in the parking lot of the maritime station from Dénia (Baleària Port)

The fast charging points (50 kilowatts) will be double and will allow simultaneous charging of up to four cars. They will also be freely accessible and available to all users during the 24 hours of the day. To make use of these, you must access the Iberdrola Public Recharge application, with which you can geolocate, reserve and pay for recharges via mobile phone easily.

This new infrastructure adds to the one Baleària It already has operations in its facilities in the port of Valencia, in which it has installed two semi-fast charging points, with capacity for four electric vehicles.

For Iberdrola, the agreement is part of the electric vehicle deployment plan in the Valencian Community, which provides for the installation of 1.000 charging points in homes, companies, as well as on urban and interurban public roads, up to 2021.

The agreement was signed yesterday by Adolfo Utor, president of Baleària, and Joaquín Longares, delegate of Iberdrola in the Valencian Community, on the basis of which the shipping company will transfer the ground for the location of the rapid recharge infrastructure for electric vehicles, while the energy company will provide the equipment, its installation and its management during the ten years of the agreement.

Joaquín Longares, delegate of Iberdrola in the Valencian Community, highlighted: “Users of these facilities will have the possibility of recharging the batteries of electric vehicles with 100% green energy, which comes from clean generation sources. In this way, we respond to the growing interest of citizens for sustainable mobility, respectful of the environment and competitive, and move forward in our commitment to the total decarbonization of the economy ”.

For his part, Adolfo Utor, president of Baleària, said: “This initiative is part of our commitment to the environment and the commitment to sustainability and the use of more eco-efficient energies”. In this sense, Utor recalled that Baleària is a pioneer in the use of natural gas in its fleet and that it already operates with four ships that can navigate with this cleaner energy and in the next two years they will reach nine ferries.

Leading the energy transition

The agreement is part of Iberdrola's plans to promote and lead the energy transition in Spain, through sustainable mobility and the electrification of transport as a way to combat climate change.

The company develops a Sustainable Mobility Plan, which includes the deployment of 25.000 electric vehicle charging points in Spain to 2021, aimed at homes, companies, as well as in urban and interurban areas of public access.

The plan includes the installation of fast, super fast and ultra fast recharging stations - at least every 100km - in the main highways and corridors of the country during 2019, reaching all provincial capitals and allowing Spain to travel from end to end.
