Last week the programming of events around International Women's Day was presented, designed taking into account the limitations imposed by the pandemic. For this reason, most of the activities will be carried out virtually, including the commemorative act organized by the City Council of Dénia and which this year will recognize the first councilors of the current democracy during that first legislature of 1979-1983.

It will be a tribute through social networks, in which, the days before March 8, snippets of the interviews that, with the collaboration of the Municipal Archive, have been carried out with María Ángeles Colomer, Concha Noguera, Paulina Silvestre will appear. and Tere Villó to tell them how that experience was. On March 8, the full material with the testimonies of these four women will be published "Pioneers in developing municipal responsibility at a time when women used to carry out other tasks", commented in his presentation the councilor Javier Scotto. They agreed to public positions that were practically exclusively male and they were the first to open a path that many others have followed to this day.

Continuing with the virtual activities, from March 1 to 10, the TikTok contest # Déniaporlaigualdad is convened with the aim of involving the citizens of Dénia, La Xara and Jesús Pobre in the reflection to achieve equal opportunities between women and men. This initiative has the collaboration of the Department of Education to encourage the younger public and spread the contest among the educational centers of Dénia, La Xara and Jesús Pobre. The contest rules and the registration form can be obtained at this link https://n9.cl/9gnkc. On March 16, the contest prizes will be announced, a first, endowed with 200 euros, and a second, which will receive a financial prize of 100 euros. In addition, the winning video will compete for the national prize "Rolling for equality", endowed with 500 euros, in which all the winning works of the different local competitions will participate. The winner of the national contest will be announced on March 25.

The programming also includes the dissemination of the video Dona (police) you have to be, made by the Local Police of Dénia and starring police women from the staff. The launch will take place on March 8 from the social networks of the Dénia Town Hall and the Dénia Local Police.

The video, explained Scotto, who also holds the Department of Citizen Protection, was recorded before the pandemic and was finished editing a few days ago, coinciding, coincidentally, with the completion of the selection process of eleven agents for Dénia's staff, of which four are women. “With this, and although Law 17/2017 on the coordination of local police in the Valencian Community is still pending regulatory development, we have complied with the positive discrimination measure that establishes the reserve for women of 30% of the places offered in a selection ”, he pointed out.

The Matria association, a member of the Consell de les Dones de Dénia, has organized other activities in this program. On the one hand, it launches the call for the IV literary contest for equality. The works can be presented from March 1 to April 23 and the awards ceremony will take place when the health crisis improves. On March 7, with the collaboration of the Pessic Cinema-club, a forum cinema session has been programmed around the film Rosa's wedding, by director Icíar Bollaín. It will be at 19 hours, in the Social Center of Dénia. The entrance fee is 3 euros.

And for the 8th of March, Matria calls the protest action “Cadena de mujeres”, at 19:XNUMX p.m., in the Calle Marques de Campo. Those who want to be part of this chain for equality, in which the participants will keep an interpersonal distance of 2 meters, must previously contact one of these telephone numbers: 679 061 024 - 616 100 961 - 679 969 173 - 639 099 243 - 639 054 137.

The associated center of the UNED in Dénia, with the collaboration of the city council and also of Matria, has organized, for March 9 and 10, the conferences "Women and science", which will be given by Marta Ruipérez Alonso, doctor in Neuroscience and professor tutor of the Center Associated to the UNED of Dénia and “Gender in clinical medicine. Evidence and reflections to improve ”, with María Teresa Ruiz Cantero, professor at the University of Alicante. Both will begin at 18:XNUMX p.m. Registration can be done at the following link https://extension.uned.es/actividad/24117&codigo=ADDLM.

The program is completed with a street action that will use the information and advertising media that the city council has distributed throughout the city to display throughout the month of March the posters of the campaign “The day will come when equal opportunities will be real ”, With QR codes that the viewer must scan to access the material (videos, audios, information).

Finally, Scotto announced that on March 8, his council will carry out the first internal action of the Dénia Town Hall Equal Opportunities Plan. It is about the distribution of FFP2 approved masks, serigraphed with the design of Tardor Roselló that illustrates the anniversary this year, among the nearly 600 workers of the different municipal departments, including Civil Protection, Creama and the Municipal Market.
