Teachers of the region are trained in first aid with professionals from the Department of Health of Dénia

04 March 2019 - 12: 14

Pediatricians and pediatric nurses from the Dénia Health Department are training Primary and ESO teachers from the Marina Alta to resolve some emergencies that may arise in their schools.

The objective is to train in the management of pediatric emergencies in the school environment until the health services arrive. The pathologies on which teachers are going to be trained are the most frequent clinical episodes, such as choking, wounds or the management of chronic pathologies (diabetes, celiac disease, asthma or allergies). The teachers of the Marina Alta will also receive training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation -RCP-.

According to the Department's Head of Pediatrics, Josep Mut, "The training of teachers is essential to attend an emergency until health professionals can take care of minors. It is not about supplanting health care but about knowing a series of basic techniques to avoid situations that can get complicated".

The training, organized by CEFIRE and given by the Dénia Health Department, has begun with fifty teachers from four schools in Dénia: Montgó, Vessanes, IES 3 and Historian Chabás.

The formations are expected to be received by teachers from all the Infant and Primary schools of the Marina Alta. 4 annual editions will be given, divided by the same number of quarters.
