Professionals of the Dénia Health Center sensitize the population about diabetes

To mark the World Diabetes Day which is celebrated on November 14, professionals from the Dénia Health Department offer a talk in order to raise awareness in society of the Marina Alta about the importance of preventing diabetes and controlling the complications of this disease through diet and physical exercise.

The talk will take place on Tuesday, November 14, 11: 30, in the House of Culture of Dénia. Open to the public, it will be taught by Cristina Martínez, nurse at the Dénia Health Center; Pablo Parrondo, doctor of the Dénia Health Center and Marta Calero, Midwife of the Dénia Health Center.

Under the motto: "Move for diabetes", the speakers seek to inform about the importance of exercise as a fundamental part of the treatment in all types of diabetes. During the talk, the topic of Gestational Diabetes will also be addressed, given the motto: "Diabetes and Women" of the International Day of Diabetes.

The objective is to provide women with knowledge and tools to prevent the onset of diabetes. Approximately, 1 of each 7 pregnant woman develops gestational diabetes. This disease during pregnancy increases the chances of suffering type II diabetes and maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality.

In addition, during the month of November, the Health Center of Dénia has organized an art exhibition in the Hall of CS of Dénia on diabetes made by the team of professionals of the center, which will be until the end of November; and the November 13 and 14 days will be held on Findrisk test (test for the risk of diabetes) to people who are interested in the CSI of Dénia II.
