The mall Portal de la Marina celebrates its tenth anniversary this year as a commercial benchmark in the Marina Alta. And it's time to renew. So much so that the complex will be the subject of a significant investment in the coming months that will mean an improvement in access and services for the more than 4 million visitors who visit it each year.
The director of the shopping center, Carlos Fita, has announced that this investment will amount to the 3,2 million euros and the works, exterior and interior, will be extended during the next six months. The BroadwayMalyan architecture studio, known for the design of the Miami Cruise Terminal, among others, has been in charge of the project.
Improvements in Portal de la Marina Shopping Center
- It will improve the main pedestrian access to the shopping center, increasing its relevance and visibility. In the main entrance of the center will be installed a portal of 20 meters high, making it more visible and comfortable for visitors
- A new children's area will be set up inside the enclosure, next to the access to the cinemas, and outside there will be a bet on landscaped areas
- All the areas of the shopping center will be redesigned and stylized, along with the redecoration of the accesses to the bathrooms
- The automatic ramp of the restoration zone will be replaced by two escalators that will be moved to the most central area. In addition, a panoramic elevator will be installed. In this way we seek to redistribute the internal traffic in the complex.
- The removal of the ramps will increase the terraces of the restaurants on the first floor, where three large LED screens will also be installed, offering a more modern and fun image.
An exciting project
For Carlos Fita, this important investment, which "it won't be small, comfortable or fast", is nothing more than the demonstration of the clear and definitive commitment of the Lar Group for this project, and by extension, for the Marina Alta.
The director of the shopping center has explained that the work will be carried out at night so as not to hinder the opening hours of the center, and will be carried out in two phases: the first, until July, when they will be interrupted to attend to the large influx of summer visitors in this area. In the month of September they will be resumed and it is expected that they will be finished for the campaign of Christmas.
The mayor of Ondara, José Ramiro, has expressed his satisfaction for the large investment that will be made in the municipality, which will mean an important visibility for the Marina Alta.
Braulio, the "construction manager"
In order to make these works more bearable, the one in charge of reporting on the progress of the same will be Braulio, the fictitious works manager of Portal de la Marina. This character, embodied by the Valencian actor Berna Llobell, will be in charge of informing, through social networks, the progress of the works.
