Portal de la Marina is a center that advocates for sustainable actions throughout the year. But this time it has gone further, it has created a permanent space for recycling. This space is located in the orange parking lot of the shopping center. In it there are several containers for different waste, from the most common such as paper, cardboard and packaging, to other more atypical but necessary. This area is essential precisely for this type of waste, such as used oil or batteries, materials that once we want to throw away, many times we do not know where.

Specifically, the waste that can be recycled in the Eco Zone are: batteries, print cartridges and toners, paper and cardboard, lights and small lamps, used oil, fluorescent tubes, plastic bottles, packaging and clothing.

Recycling benefits the environment and therefore the whole of society for many reasons: it reduces the need for landfills, saves energy, avoids pollution caused by the extraction and processing of raw materials, reduces greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to change. climate, conserves natural resources such as wood or water, etc. For all these reasons, areas like the Eco Zone are necessary.

Portal de la Marina has appealed to all citizens of the Marina Alta so that they use their Eco Zone and recycle in their day to day. But, he has also asked for responsibility and collaboration so that this area is used correctly and can have a positive impact on the environment. Since it is vitally important that the materials are separated and thrown into the appropriate container, for this all containers have an indicative sign.

In Portal de la Marina they trust this space, since, according to the words of Virginia Carrasco, director of the shopping center: “It is essential to be aware of the importance and benefits of recycling, that is why we have created this space so useful for everyone and now we are seeing the good reception it is having, something that makes us very happy ”.
