La Cala: where is Dénia's nudist beach?

02 March 2022 - 09: 00

There is only one naturist beach in Dénia, where nudism can be practiced. We are talking about La Cala, or Cala d'Aigua Dolç, a fairly hidden area at the end of Les Rotes, but of incredible beauty, surrounded by nature and transparent waters.

Next you have an index with all the points that we are going to deal with.

Table of Contents

Features

Cala d'Aigua Dolç, with an extension of between 100 and 180 meters, is a rocky cove and access to it must be done on foot. Due to its excellent location, in the Cabo de San Antonio Marine Reserve, this cove is classified as a Site of Community Interest thanks to the micro-reserve of flora on the seabed. In addition, the practice of nudism is allowed throughout the year.

Where is?

Dénia's nudist beach is located in a small cove within the Les Arenetes area. It is the last beach in Dénia, which, thanks to its location, is hidden under a cliff in the Natural Park Montgó, provides enough privacy to be able to practice nudism while sunbathing or enjoying a swim in its crystal clear waters.

Address

It is a very hidden cove, which can only be accessed by going down some stairs. By car it is impossible to get there, so you have to prepare yourself to walk for a while. Passing the Les Arenetes cove, just in front of the Ca Nano restaurant, there is a steep slope that must be climbed on foot, which will take us to the top of the cove's viewpoint. Once there, you have to go down some stairs that lead to the stones of the beach.

Where to park?

Since 2021, access to the final section of Les Rotes has been closed to vehicles in summer, with the exception of neighbors, restaurant customers or special services. However, as compensation, a public transport service was enabled by train or minibus during the months that the restriction lasts. This transport is totally free and operates with only two stops, one at the public parking in front of the Hotel Las Rotas and the other in front of the restaurant Mena. Therefore, the best option to park is in said free car park.

Services

La Cala does not have any outstanding services, since it is very far from frequented areas. It does not have a beach bar or any nearby establishment to eat or drink. In fact, it doesn't even have bathrooms.

There is no on-site surveillance and rescue service, limiting itself to patrols by sea, very occasionally, from the boat of the Les Rotes lifeguard team. She is also not well adapted for the access of people with reduced mobility.

Comments
  1. Rudibert says:

By law, nudism is allowed on all public beaches according to the approval of LO 5/1988, of June 9.
For personal health reasons, it is better not to insist, because there is always someone who feels obliged to take justice into their own hands.

  2. Luis says:

They call that rock Cala? Uncomfortable, tiny and on top of that they advertise it… How many people can fit in there on drums?

    • Isi says:

20 years ago it was bigger. The rise in level and the movement of rocks due to storms has left it reduced to a minimum.
