Opinion Pepa Font: "Dénia urgently needs new budgets"

El Party de Dénia has decided to extend last year's budgets for this year, without making any revision. It is not necessary for me to say that a city that does not review its budgets every year is a city that does not want to progress: there are investments that were made well last year but many that were wrong and that must be corrected to improve.

The government of Denia and Councilor of Finance, Vicente Chelet, have the obligation to write urgently the municipal budgets of Dénia for 2015, after the motion presented by CU during the last plenary session last Monday and that supported the majority.

It is not a trivial matter: if the accounts are not approved, the city could be mortgaged during the next legislatures due to the hurried economic situation suffered by the municipal coffers, aggravated by the latest judicial rulings.

The motion presented by my group, Center Unificat, is nothing more than an exercise of responsibility: Dénia needs to rethink their investments and consensuarlas with all parties to go in one direction. So much so that our proposal was supported by all local political groups, except for citizens. It is time therefore that the finance council convene without delay spokespersons from all parties in order to begin negotiations to draw up such accounts.

Since Chelet enjoys an exclusive dedication that pay the citizens of Denia, you should have enough to deal with what should be its main task time: plan and improve the efficiency of municipal investments.

Now, to extend 2014 budgets regardless of the variations in revenues and expenses can cause serious economic imbalances with very negative consequences for citizens.

To begin with, the City Council needs to make new investments. For example, we must repair the damage suffered by the Montgó Natural Park and by residents of the area after the September fire; we must approve new aid to business associations in the area to achieve job creation; We must promote the city as a tourist destination associated with gastronomy and the environment; and of course, we must reduce the tax burdens suffered by the residents of Dénia currently aggravated by the new cadastral regularization.

Dénia City Council is the only major town halls in the region that has failed to approve its accounts for this year. It's time to paddle in the same direction and agree on a budget for all citizens.
