Objective: to normalize breastfeeding in any situation

Dozens of lactating women gathered in Denia on Tuesday in the III World Breastfeeding Week Conference, an appointment that is celebrated in the number 41 week of the year, that is when the lactation begins.

The event began with a photograph of all participants and their babies as a means of normalizing breastfeeding in any place and situation. In this case it was in the Maritime station of Dénia, where this day was celebrated.

The inauguration was in charge of the Managing Director of the Department of Health of Dénia, Luis Carter; accompanied by the Head of Pediatrics, Josep Mut and the Pediatrician and President of the Breastfeeding Commission, Marta Sánchez, who was in charge of pronouncing the inaugural conference on the steps taken in the social normalization of breastfeeding in public.

The intervention gave way to a roundtable in which a group of experts resolved questions to the attendees. Questions such as the insecurity that generates to women the quality and quantity of the milk that they generate or the moment of the beginning of the complementary feeding. The day ended with a keynote address by Pediatrician Luis Santos, who made a tour of changes in infant feeding during the last three decades.
