New image and living memories: this is the stage that begins the Cervantes school in Dénia

November 08 from 2017 - 06: 59

It is the oldest school in Dénia. Born in 1956, the Cervantes was for several years the only option for parents to take their children to a public center in the capital of the Marina Alta. From then until now, thousands have been the people who have been formed in the center and thousands the memories that survive in the corridors of the school.

This year the center has celebrated its sixtieth anniversary turned into the one that gathers the greatest diversity of students of Dénia, that is, it represents the reality of the streets where multiple nationalities, languages and cultures come together.

Precisely this diversity, which for some parents has become an obstacle when it comes to schooling their children in the center, is now a challenge: an opportunity to train 21st century people in a diverse world, incorporating new educational programs, facing the challenge of collecting the inheritance of the past, improving the present to have a better future.

And for sample, a button. Since the course began last September, the Cervantes school has changed the image of the writer for a versatile, friendly identity, eco friendly, bilingual, conciliatory and what is more important, incorporates the main human element of this story.

To complement the start of this new stage in the school, the new board of directors, formed by its director Júlia Fornet, the head of studies Olga López and the secretary Elvira Pérez, has launched, with the support of the faculty, a network campaign to rescue the memories that alumni have from the center.

Tell me about Cervantes / Parla'm del Cervantes seeks to promote a memory exercise, in which students, parents, and teachers share with all their memories: "What have you played in the yard? Is your partner a cervantes? Your first kiss, your first skates, your first panda ...? That teacher? ..."

The presentation of the new identity has been very well received by the teaching team, parents and students, now that it is presented in society, joins the rest of the changes that will gradually emerge in the Cervantes and contemplate opening the school to the city, to the region.
