Dénia fishermen have announced that this year they have been forced to suspend the traditional castle of fireworks that are fired as the image of the Virgen de los Desamparados passes through the port in the procession that will be held next Sunday, May 8.
As they explained, the location from which they had to launch the castle last year, from the north breakwater, is far from where the public is, "because the natural activity of the maritime station and his ships cover every possibility of vision " from the Cervantes Esplanade.
From the Fishermen's Association they have held talks with the management of ports, who requested power takes mascletà terrestrial in the parking lot of the Lonja, but it was denied for being an area less than 250 meters of a gas station and less than 500 of the forest area of the Castle, inviting them to launch it from the same point as last year.
That is why it was decided, for the first time, suspend the fireworks display in honor of the Virgin "since it makes no sense to perform a show that will not be seen by people".
No osbtante, the Fishermen's Association explained that, in order that the essence of the feast of their patron will not miss this year the procession will pass between the old fish market and moored fishing boats, which as always will be decorated for the chance. This detour will be used to make a wreath to the monument of the fisherman and after that the procession will resume at the Cervantes esplanade, where petals will be launched to the image.
