The Música al Castell de Dénia festival celebrates its 30th edition this year with a luxury program, a feast for fans of world music. From July 21 to 31, on the esplanade of the Governor of the Castell de Dénia and in the Plaza del Consell, the two usual stages of the festival, eight concerts have been scheduled that will make this 30th anniversary memorable.

Kiko Veneno, Las Migas, Marlango, Miquel Gil and Noelia Llorens, Septeto Santiaguero, The Cubero brothers, La POP. Small Peiotaire Orchestra and the essential presence of the music of dolçaina, brand of the festival, by the Colla de dolçainers 'Pere Bigot'.

To this "promotional role of traditional music" that the Música al Castell festival has developed since its origin, and very specifically, the dissemination of the music of dolçaina and tabal by the groups, "who have found in the festival a unique platform ”, alluded to the Councilor for Culture of the Dénia City Council, Raúl García de la Reina, at the presentation of the 30th edition of the festival that took place last Friday at the Castell.

García de la Reina recalled that the birth of the festival, in 1992, "responded to the need to promote and disseminate popular and traditional music and, very especially, Valencian groups with proposals for root music".

"At a time when new groups and voices were emerging that claimed traditional music, but with a broader and open look at different influences, the Denia City Council opted for these new trends in the music scene; those from nearby, but also those of the rest of the Spanish geography and the world", added the mayor.

The choice of stage the castle of the city, "was not fortuitous: we wanted to promote our architectural and historical heritage, the most ours, together with popular music, the most ours by tradition", affirmed the councilman.

García de la Reina also spoke of the natural evolution of the festival over these 30 years, highlighting "the festival's fidelity to the founding principles, without giving up its evolution, especially evident in the adaptation to the current world music scene ”.

In these three decades of history, nearly 200 groups and soloists have passed through the stages of the Música al Castell festival, "making it an event open to musical diversity, but also to tolerance, brotherhood, respect and peace through of the music".

Artists and formations that, as pointed out by the specialized journalist, director of the world music program "The sounds of the blue planet" and a faithful follower of the Paco Valiente festival, make this a unique festival "that bets on root music, at least obvious”.

For which he congratulated the City Council of Dénia and, in a very special way, the Culture technician and director of the festival, Maribel Font, "whose determination and tenacity has allowed us to maintain this beautiful festival."

The speeches for the presentation of the 30th edition were completed with the intervention of Toni Torregrosa, a member of the Urbàlia Rurana group, a witness and part of the long history of the festival, who recounted his memories of that first edition in 1992 and some more that he knows well. .

The presentation party of the XXX Music festival at the Castell de Dénia concluded with the performance of Urbàlia Rurana, who lifted a dedicated audience from their chairs. The best omen of what is to come.
